The Blue Cedar Platform enables you to integrate services into iOS and Android app binaries without coding. These services are available in the form of accelerators—modules that you can select to integrate relevant security functionality into apps.

Use the Blue Cedar Accelerator for Microsoft with the Blue Cedar Platform to integrate Microsoft Intune and Azure ADAL into apps.

The Blue Cedar Mobile Client technology includes the software that is added to the integrated mobile app, that is:

  • The chosen integration accelerator with its enabled options.
  • The Blue Cedar code that integrates the accelerator with the app.

September 2019 GA release: Blue Cedar Accelerator for Microsoft includes Blue Cedar Mobile Client 4.8.0.

About Blue Cedar Accelerator for Microsoft

Blue Cedar Accelerator for Microsoft with Blue Cedar Mobile Client 4.8+ allows you to integrate Microsoft Intune app protection and security controls with your mobile apps:

  • Intune App SDK (for iOS and Android)
  • Azure Active Directory Authentication Library (ADAL)

Blue Cedar Accelerator for Secure Edge Connect

You can also use the Blue Cedar platform to embed an in-app IKEv2 VPN client when you integrate an app with the Blue Cedar Accelerator for Microsoft. To do this, you need the Blue Cedar Accelerator for Secure Edge Connect, which is licensed separately, but is accessible from the UI for the Blue Cedar Accelerator for Microsoft. This option allows you to specify an IKEv2 VPN gateway and embed an in-app VPN client into the app to connect to that gateway. This IKEv2 gateway can be a third party gateway (IPSec based) or the Blue Cedar Connect Gateway (currently in Beta).

iOS 13 support

Blue Cedar includes support for the new Apple iOS 13 release.

Android 10 support

Blue Cedar includes support for the new Android 10 release.

Open issues/limitations

  • AndroidX support: Blue Cedar is actively working on full support for apps using the AndroidX library.
  • Browser support: Supported browsers for using the Blue Cedar Platform UI are Chrome and Firefox. Safari, Edge, and Internet Explorer are not currently supported.
  • SmartOffice on Samsung devices: The SmartOffice app (integrated with any Blue Cedar accelerator) displays a black screen on specific Samsung devices running Android 9. Other devices/versions may be affected. (BCP-3524)

Limitations with integrating Microsoft Intune:

  • Intune Data Sharing: Intune policies to prohibit receiving data from unmanaged apps are not applied correctly. (iOS, BCP-3489)
  • Save copies of org data: The Intune Data Protection setting "Save copies of Org data" is not enforced for apps that use Blue Cedar to integrate the Intune SDK. (BCP-3794)
